A true story - I recently held a networking event and the attendance was a little light however, we were all able to connect and get to know each other and at the end of the event, I felt I made some quality connections. I was more satisfied at this event than one I attended with over 100 people and lots of business cards.
We always talk about quality connections and the reason is that with it, you focus on relationships. With a larger event, there is pressure to meet as many people as possible and score some transactions. You don't have time to have quality conversations.
So the next time you go to an event and the attendance is light, have a new approach of relationship building. All it takes is one great connection since you never know who they know!!
