Winter is one of the toughest times of the year for mental health. You tend to become a hermit in your house and the seasonal doldrums take hold. You always have to remember that your mental health is important for your well-being.
Here are some tips to help you feel better during the coldest days:
- Make a habit of getting out for a daily walk, of course at your local mall if it is freezing out.
- Add vitamin D into your diet and nutritional changes. Add fish, eggs and even mushrooms to your diet. Of course, supplements help - see below.
- Plan fun activities and stick to those commitments. There are lots of indoor and even outdoor activities you can do.
- Get social with friends and family. Make a point to reach out to 3-5 people a day. They may be going through the same thing you are.
- Move your body with physical activity. Go to a gym versus exercising at home. The social aspect is important.
- Reach out to your support network. Remember your family and friends do care. Sometimes it is good to just talk.
